Rugby Police Bowls Club charity donation

At the end of their 2024 season, Rugby Police Bowls Club, made a presentation of £1,750 to the club’s nominated charity of the year, Rugby Dementia Support. The money had beencollected by their membership, during the bowling season, as well as by their tourists during their long weekend tour to Somerset.

Rugby Dementia Support, who receive no regular funding, provides support for both, the sufferers of dementia and their carers throughout the local area, through meetings and activities,as well as offering some respite to the carers.

David Owen, the Chair of Rugby Police Bowls Club said: “In this day and age, when more and more people are being diagnosed with this condition, I cannot believe that an organisation who provides the care and support that Rugby Dementia Support dohave to rely on donations to exist!

The Rugby Mayor visited  our Music Singalong & AGM, Friday, 9th August 2024

Rugby Dementia Support Music Singalong & AGM, Friday, 9th August 2024
Message from The Rugby Mayor (Cllr Simon Ward) published on the Mayor’s Facebook page:

It was a pleasure to attend the Rugby Dementia Support group AGM, lunch and sing a long yesterday at Bilton Bowling Club. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any photos as I was too busy joining in with the singing and chatting to members plus their carers and support network. There was a great energy in the room and the power of music can never be underestimated. As well as witnessing this I also got to hear a bit about some of the other things that they get up to including regular meet ups and the occasional day trips. The work they do is fantastic and it’s a real community spirit thanks to all of the volunteers who provide such vital support.

If you have a loved one with Dementia or indeed would like to support then do get in touch with the group as they are very friendly and welcoming to all.
